USTA Combo 5.5 WIN

We earned our first USTA win of the season, taking D2 and D3 but losing a squeaker in a tiebreak in D1.

First, Karen Urbanek and Aimee Armsby in D3 played consistently well, and beat the Sunnyvale duo 6-3 and 6-4
Caren Taylor and Jami Worthington in D2 won the first set 6-1 and then took the second set 6-4.
Ginger Oros and Sally Ann Reiss in D1 played very well for more than 2 hours (while the rest of us sat out on the cold deck and watched).  We lost the first set 6-7 and then won the second set 6-3 which set up a tiebreak, that we lost.

Final tally:  Alpine won the match 2-1.

Congratulations to the players and thanks to the team members who came to be part of the cheering section.

5.5 Ladies Combo

It was a beautiful day for tennis on Saturday. Katja and Sally Ann took care of their competition 6-1,6-1. Wendy and Rachel lost in two hard fought sets, 6-7,6-2. Shannon and Beth played well but went down 3-6,3-6. Give a shout out to Beth. It was her first ever USTA match. Good job. Our next match is on 10/3 at Rinconda at 4:00. Here’s the lineup

Susan/Ann are the subs for this match. Melissa is taking the usta season off.

I will have the next two lineups by tomorrow or Wednesday so you can get out and practice with her partner. I’m heading up to Tahoe to see my folks late Saturday afternoon so I will miss the match. Wanda is our awesome co-captain.
