Hi Saturday Soccer Families,

We are still looking for a lead to step up for our age 3s. Our U5 group is our largest this season - which is awesome - love all of the young families in our community.

If you're able to help lead our age 3s in drills this season we'd be most appreciative. You'll meet with our U5 Head Coach Asela before practices and get a full plan of action for the hour.

Please email me directly if you're able to assist here. This is also a great opportunity for older sibilings. If you have a mature teen that's looking for some volunteer experience and is great with kids and has a soccer background this might be a fit.

Appreciate it.

Hi Everyone,

-----

SORRY FOR A DOUBLE SEND - it came to my attention a few new registrants did not receive this note. Thanks!

-----

Thank you so much for everyone who showed up to soccer Saturday morning. It is always wonderful to see the community back together after the snow.

I'm hoping it became quite apparent that we are an extremely LEAN team moving into this soccer season. Over the last year we have had several parents step away from the board (as their children move on) and we have had several coaches who have not been able to commit to soccer this season.

With only 4-active board members remain on BSC this will be our final season unless we have parents actively step up, join the board, and assist with organization.

I want to thank all the awesome parents who stepped up this Saturday to help with jersey distribution and coaching. Looks like we have a great season ahead - full of connection and fun.

----

Format: For those of you new to Bowness Soccer you'll have seen we focus on fun! We have a large group warm up, then split into smaller groups to run drills, and we end practice with some friendly games. This format will be consistent all summer. Once children enter our U11-U15 there is intercommunity play; we have a great coaching team lined up there.

----

Setup and Clean up: We appreciate any and all help with setup and clean up. Never think twice about lending a hand. We're all in this together - we rely on the help of volunteers to keep registration costs down.

----

Coaches: It looks as if we are getting organized here! I appreciate it. We need a lead for each age group and if you are able to step in and help your lead please ensure you approach them before/during practice. We know that 'helpers' can't be as consistent so we appreciate the ad hoc help when you can.

- Ages 3-5 - Head Coach Asela (Board Member)

-- Age 3: CONFIRM Lead (I know we had some greta volunteers here this weekend. Can you please email me if you are able to be the lead?)

-- Age 4: Matt Lead (please email me so I have your contact)

-- Age 5: Asela Lead

- Age 6-8 - Head Coach Jimmy (Board Member)

-- Age: 6/7: Greg (? You helped this weekend and I know are game moving forward - I'm hoping I got your name right - can you please confirm by emailing me) and Chieftian Coaches

-- Age 7/8: Jimmy and Chieftian Coaches

Coach Leads, please chat with your Head Coach prior to practice for any tips, tricks, or lesson plans. Please arrive by 9:40 to have a chat and to setup. Asela and I will be there 9:40 next week - goal will be setup but also organization of coach leads for the remaining season. So if your name is not mentioned here but you are keen on assisting - please come. Thank you!!

Game Day Management

Christie has stepped up as our Game Day Manager, she can be there to answer questions, help with jerseys/kits, and ensure things are running smoothly. Christie will step into this role May 25. You'll find her near the shed at the start and end of practice. During practice she'll be on the sidelines with her kids.

For next weekend Christina will act as Game Day Manager.

----

Jersey Swaps/Needs: I have received several emails about sizing and needs. If you'd like your kit switched out please bring it to the shed during practice (after game day set up is complete) and I can faciltate that. If you didn't receive one last week please come during practice to receive one. We will not deal with jersey issues before practice has begun so that we can focus on setting up promptly.

----

No Soccer - May 18: There will be no soccer on May 18. Due to lack of volunteer coach availabilty we will not have soccer that day.

----

Board Meeting

We will hold a Board Meeting Saturday, May 25 from 11:15 to 12:30 in the field after practice. We will identify some transition priorities, review financials, etc. I'll make an agenda prior to and distirbute to those interested in being part of the board. If you'd like to be on this invitation please email me and let me know. Ideally we would be at a board of 10 members in order to make the work load more managable headed in to future seasons.

----

Again - I truly appreciate you all. I love this Club and have loved playing a small role in keeping this  club active since 2019. As one of the only clubs that figured out how to make play during Covid happen - as winners of a Bowness Community Association Award - and getting to hear first hand the impact this club has  - I am so proud to be part of an awesome team.

Looking forward to meeting more of you and getting a powerhouse Board together before the season ends.

Hi Everyone,

A few reminders as we head into the season.

Weather and Practice Cancellations: If practice is cancelled we will notify all parents through email (via Playyon). We aim to do so with as much notice as possible, but we all know Calgary can sometimes change on a dime. We are unable to send individual emails and will not reply to individual emails sent about weather or cancellations.

Missed Practice: You do not need to notify us if your child is missing practice. Show up when you can - and if you miss a week that is ok - looking forward to having you back the next week.

Cleats and Shin Guards: This are highly recommended (especially for our older age groups) but not required.

Uniforms: Uniforms will be distributed during the first practice. If you miss out please collect the kit from the shed from a coach in a following week. All children will receive a jersey, shorts, and socks.

Coaches: If you have indicated you will assist coach please arrive 15 minutes prior to practice to get organized and help Coach Jimmy set up. We appreciate it.

Thanks everyone! Looking forward to a fun season!
