Corinthian University Crew School

Crew School 2025

Are you interested in sailing? This program is for you! Learn the basics of sailing, including nautical terminology, points of sail, behavior on board, crew roles, weather safety, personal and boat safety equipment, avoiding rookie mistakes, and rules of the road.

In small group settings, you’ll learn hands-on skills like knot tying, line control, winch operation, sail folding, and spinnaker packing.

Join our annual outdoor boat demo, Skipper Meet & Greet, and Crew School to meet skippers seeking crew members for next season. Crew School prepares you for CCYC’s 4-week Adult Sailing School sessions. Graduates can join our yacht club at our Educational membership rate.

Our 6-week program runs on consecutive Wednesdays from April 2nd to May 7th, from 7pm to 9pm CDT.

Stay for extra After Dark programming from 9pm to 9:30pm to meet fellow students, staff, and hear from special guest speakers. Our 2025 Crew School will be held at the CCYC Clubhouse in Montrose Harbor. For questions, contact our Registration Coordinator Cat Balint at [email protected] or visit our website at https://www.corinthian.org/crewschool for more details.

About Us

CCYC's Sailing Crew Training Program
(aka "Crew School")

There's nothing like spending time out on the waters of Lake Michigan in the Summertime!

Do you spend time on other people's boats or want to?
Do you watch the sailboats racing on the lake and wonder how you can get involved?
Do you wish you knew more about what your friends, family or co-workers are doing, how you can help out, what makes a great crew member, and/or how to find a boat to race with?

Come Join CCYC’s Sailing Crew Training Program, held each Spring.

Our passionate sailors and skippers will teach you the skills you need to become a valued crew member whether you are interested in cruising or joining a racing program AND introduce you to the various fleets that sail and race out of Montrose Harbor and the skippers who are actively looking to add to their crew ranks for the 2025 season!
