About Us

Junior Sailing

Welcome to the 2024 sailing season!  Our registration will become live in the coming weeks.  CCYC's youth sailing program is a parent-involved group that aims to encourage and develop the sailing and water-related skills of our children (ages 8 to 18) through instructional and peer-to-peer interaction in a structured yet fun and social educational environment. Junior Fleet was re-established in 1996 to develop knowledgeable youth sailors and instill in them a love of the sport of boating that will serve as a foundation for their future and that of CCYC. No previous sailing experience is necessary to join. Any parents seeking additional information should contact [email protected].

Junior Sailing 2024

Beginners start sailing in the Prams, Optimists and 420s. They work on learning how to properly rig the boats and the basics of sailing. Beginners are of all ages and it is the first step in building their confidence on the water.  As sailors progress, instruction includes improving sailing techniques and learning how to get the most out of the boat by building skills in speed and accuracy.

Race Team

Race Team is for those who have learned the beginner's skills and are ready for the next step. Instructor led coaching includes improving sailing techniques for those that want to enter the world of sailboat racing.  Race Team members also participate in 2-3 racing regattas annually.
