HANOVER SOCCER CLUB 2026 SEASON INFORMATION
To All Hanover Soccer Members
Soccer is just around the corner! Ok, the snow is still blowing, but soccer registrations will begin soon! There is some important information regarding our programing this year.
Our Timbits Mini-Soccer Program, will continue as normal. This is for ages 4 to 7. If your child is or will be turning 4 this year, they are eligible! If you have friends that are new to soccer, let them know as well. Registrations for Timbits will open mid February. Please consider coaching or returning as a coach.
Our Eastman Youth Soccer League (EYSL) community soccer program, will also continue as usual (May/June). However, this will only be offered for the U11 age group and up. So, if your child is or will be turning 11 this year, they will participate in the EYSL league as usual. Again, please consider coaching or returning as a coach.
Our 8, 9, and 10 year old players will now play in the brand new soccer initiative being rolled out by Soccer Canada (and the Manitoba Soccer Association (MSA) provincially) called Grassroots Programming! This new initiative will provide players with a structured group station-based training environment, and weekly competitions including voluntary out of town festivals. Programing will be led by our program manager and several assistants along with parent coaches guiding the stations. We will be working together with the MSA and the Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association (WYSA). This program will replace the former WYSA Single Season Developmental Division (DL) for ages 9 and 10, and the U10 EYSL age group. Also, this will be split into 2-month blocks, with the summer blocks consisting of Block 1 being May & June, with July as a break, and resuming with Block 2 in August & September. There are also winter blocks also being planned for later in the year. More information will be coming out soon, as we continue to plan on our specific club rollout. Registration for players will be the same as usual and we will need coaches here as well to help run the stations.
MSA has put together a great FAQ if you want more information. Simply plug this link into a Google Chrome Browser: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://cloud.rampinteractive.com/manitobasoccerassoc/files/MSA%20Grassroots%20Soccer%20FAQ%20-%20Updated%20-%20July%2022%202025.pdf
Registration for all the above programing will be posted on the website and alerts will be posted on social media once they are available, roughly mid February.
Lastly, our WYSA competitive programing is also moving forward. We currently have teams in the following age groups… Premier Division Boys U11, U12, U13, U15 and U16; Rec Division Girls U14. All premier divisions run from mid March to late October. The Rec Division runs from beginning of May to mid July. These are more competitive environments and require increased commitment and cost. Evaluations are now in full swing. If this is of interest to you, we need to hear back immediately. THIS IS TIME SENSITVE and we need to hear from you by Feb 5. Please send the following info to us and we can direct you to the appropriate team coaches/managers.
• Parents name
• Child’s name
• Child’s birth year
• Child’s gender
If there is enough interest to form additional teams in any age group, we will work to do that, providing there are coaches and managers willing to step up. However, as there are player maximums for these teams, not everyone that attends an evaluation may find themselves on a team. In that event, there will still be opportunities to play in the EYSL league as mentioned above.
If you have any questions, or to respond to the competitive opportunity, feel free to contact us at [email protected].
Cheers
