The Nirvana North mission is to provide premier training and opportunities for players to be successful in their goal to play at the next level (HS varsity, College, Club College) – and have fun doing it. Nirvana North does not establish A and B teams, or NPL and Pre-NPL teams. Our philosophy is we are one team, Nirvana North. In order to compete in events we establish teams with a core set of players comparable in strength and weaknesses. We allow players to move between teams, as necessary, to support various events. The frozen roster events such as Cup play is the exception.
This approach allows us to accomplish our mission, play competitively, and give players the best opportunity to succeed. We recognize this approach is different than the other premier clubs that establish dedicated teams. We firmly believe our approach is in the best interest of the players. We have received feedback from respected premier coaches in the area that praised our philosophy. To quote one coach: "It is refreshing to see players being put first again."
Our approach recognizes that at U16 and above, the players have numerous competing priorities, for example; ACT/SAT prep & tests, school events, religious activities, driver’s education, and family obligations. We also have many players who participate in school sports. We fully support multi-sport athletes and their commitment to their high schools. We believe that this life balanced approach will assist in minimizing the player's stress level as it pertains to soccer. The expectation is that the player will enjoy soccer, leading to an increase in their overall level of commitment to soccer.
For U14 and below our focus is developing foot skills and knowledge of how to play the game. This will be accomplished through Coerver training and practices with the older players. The U14 and below players will participate age appropriate leagues and tournaments. As with the U16 and above the focus will be on competitive events that does not require extensive travel.
To accomplish our mission and support players in activities cited above, the moving of players between teams for EDP league and Showcases is essential to success. The number of teams that we enter in Showcase events is determined by player availability that is provided in January. Our goal is to have 15 players on a Showcase team. Life events are always changing which can lead to a decrease in player availability. If we fall below the 15 player minimum, we have limited options: 1) pull a team from the event, forfeiting the entry fee and losing player opportunity; 2) have attending players play additional games to support the team; 3) recruiting guest players. We prefer to blend options 2 and 3. The coaches will coordinate what players will support the team with less players.
We are Nirvana North. A soccer family committed to supporting the development of young ladies in their pursuit of developing life skills, achieving dreams and playing soccer along the way. Individual team names are just a tool used to enter events.
