Jay Mayes - Director /Lead Trainer Mayes is currently the top Assistant Coach and Offensive Coordinator for the University of Arizona Men’s lacrosse team, prior to coming to Tucson, he served as the Head Coach for the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minn. And before Northwestern, Mayes served as the top assistant and Offensive/Recruiting Coordinator at Gordon College in Wenham, Mass As a player, Mayes had a decorated career both at the collegiate and prep levels. After helping The McDonogh School (Owings Mills, Md.) to a No. 1 national ranking and MIAA Championship during the 1999 year, Mayes went on to be a four-year contributor at Gettysburg College. During his time on campus in Gettysburg, Pa., Mayes helped the Bullets to a No. 1 national ranking for back-to-back seasons, while garnering All-Centennial Conference honors playing midfield. His playing career was highlighted by two consecutive trips to the national championship game in 2001 and 2002. Following his graduation from Gettysburg, Mayes began a career in professional sports, working in the front offices of the Baltimore Ravens, Portland LumberJax, and Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx. During that time he remained heavily involved in lacrosse, coaching for several club programs including Rhino Lacrosse (Portland, Ore.), Homegrown Lacrosse (Minneapolis, Minn.), and FCA Lacrosse.
