About Us
THE TEAM!
We are looking forward to a great 2022-23 season! Welcome to RipTurn Racing Team! We are a fun and professional snowboard program designed for kids, teens, and adults, with intermediate skills and ability. The goals of the team are not only to improve riding skills but for all of us to be great team members and athletes both on and off the hill. Whether you are just looking to improve your riding or want to develop your racing skills we are for you! Most of our team riders are from lower Michigan, the Mitten! And we do most of our training at Treetops Resort in Gaylord, MI. But we also have some training sessions at Nubs Nob and Alpine Valley.
We develop riding skills and prepare our athletes for competition in SBX (snowboard cross), GS (giant slalom), and slalom. Once ready, our athletes compete in high school, USASA Great Lakes Snow Series , USASA Nationals, Rev Tour and Race to the Cup.
Every week during season we work on drills for balance, rhythm, edge control, body alignment, gate training for GS, Slalom and BX, instruction on course inspection, proper line to increase times, controlling and generating speed, carving and edge transition, training pull starts, training for rollers, whoops, and jumps in a BX course, and much more. Helmets are always required!
Your coach is JP - Jonathan Perry. Coach JP brings 8 years coaching experience and was formerly with the G Team in Minnesota where he was coach of the year (2016-17). He is a USASA certified coach and Ace Certified Personal Trainer and Sports Performance Specialist. A former 2 time national silver medalist that was ranked 22nd in the world in slalom. He brings fun to training and loves to work with athletes and share his knowledge.
