Who’s the Queen of the Court?
Alpine is a wonderful club because we’ve got our pods of friends we play over and over again. However, because we are without USTA leagues I propose we continue the AH tradition of playing with our friends but with a competitive twist. I’m calling this league Queen of the Court. It will track scores like USTA does though it’s more fun because you’re playing with your AH friends. (The format you’ll play has been tested on the 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 guys over the past two months with great success.)
Organization
Playing day will be Saturdays at either 10:45 or 12:45. There will be two or three courts each week depending on number players. Of course, we need a number divisible by four. Those that commit earliest will have a higher priority of play.
The list of players will be sent at least 8-10 days prior to the next weeks play. If you’re on it, you are committed to play or find your own sub.
Ideally there will be at least two doubles matches. Twelve players maximum per week.
The cost is $25 to cover the cost of balls and end of season to winner’s prize. (cash or logo tennis garb)
Format
You and your partner that week will play a 10 game no-add set with two or three of the other teams. The matchups will be posted on a clipboard on the day of play.
The organizer (John or Tanya) will create the matchups with an intent to have the most competitive matches possible. Some combo matches will be included.
There will be an excel scorecard used to track scores and averages.
At the end of the season (April 8t) we will know who is Queen of the Court based on the highest game average. A player must play a minimum of four matches to qualify.
