Summer League 2019 Is Here!
As the VBFBA closes out its first
full successful year we turn around and await the start of a new year beginning
with the summer league. We will use two venues this summer which will be held
at Virginia Wesleyan University and Norfolk Christian School. Opening day will
be June 15 (VW), June 22 (NC), June 29 (VW), July 6 (VW), July 13 (NC), July 27
(NC), and Aug 4 (Sun/VW). There will be a 6 game guarantee including playoffs
at a cost of $525 per team. The divisions will be 17u, 15u, 13u, 11u, 9u, Open,
6′, 32+, and 42+. All age cutoffs are as of June 1 and we will continue to
utilize the +1 for females. We will need at minimum 4 teams per division. All
youth divisions can only have a maximum of 10 players per team as we would like
to increase the playing time and make sure kids are getting on the floor. Our
summer league is reserved for Filipino’s and must be at minimum 25%. Please
utilize the online registration form to register your team by Monday June 3 so
we can prepare schedules and make any adjustments as needed. Payments will be
due by Monday June 10 and will be accepted by cash, paypal, and venmo.
We will be joining the Faba
tournament which will be held in Washington DC this year over Labor Day
Weekend. We will hold open tryouts for all youth teams on June 15 at a time to
be determined later. All participants for our select teams must be on an active
VBFBA team roster. After teams are set we will incorporate practice time on
league days and will utilize the remainder of August at the conclusion of the
summer league to get our teams prepared for battle.
If you have any questions,
concerns, or would like to volunteer in any capacity please reach out to us.
More information to come as we get everything finalized. All dates and
divisions are subject to change depending on how many teams we get registered.
If you or your child do not have a team please send us a message as we would
love to get you involved in our league. Our number one goal is growth and to
reach as many people in our community through basketball so please share!
