Water Polo Highlights
Boys Varsity Water Polo had yet another amazing week in the pool. To start off, on Tuesday the boys squared up against Terra Nova in Pacifica. Although the Boys were not the team who came out on top they played a fantastic game with a final score of 10-12. Freshmen Colby Cheung scored 2 from the 2 meter and Brooks Royals had an astonishing 5 goals for the day. It is not too often that a pool can be to blame for a loss; However, Terra Nova is an exception to that rule. With players having the ability to stand on the bottom comes a strong advantage for the home team, not to mention a goal that is 12 inches higher than regulation. Despite all the factors of the game not being in the teams favor the Boys played extremely well and showed great sportsmanship in their deficit. The team looks forward to playing Terra Nova next week on Wednesday at Aragon High School in a Full-sized regulation pool.
On Thursday the team faced off against Sequoia for the second time this season. After coming off two losses the team was fired up to get themselves out of the streak. Right away the team came out guns blazing. There were at least 15 shots on goal in the first half only one of which fell true; however, just before half time Brooks Royals scored from a 2 meter with an assist from Mate Bago which Tied up the game going into the break. The Panthers came out in the second have looking like they meant business. Right off the bat Brooks Royals put up another 2 quick goals to accelerate the team towards victory. Following those attempts Colby Cheung had a great step-out goal from 2 meters, and as the cherry on top Max Fairon had a perfect top corner quick-release shot to finish the game. Everyone is playing fantastic and improving more and more every game. The team is coming together great as a unit and they are all looking forward to the remainder of our season.
On Behalf of the Water Polo team we would like to thank the Parents and few students for your absolutely incredible support Thursday against Sequoia, it really makes a difference when the boys have a crowd to get them fired up! Thank you so much for the support! Go Panthers!
