Season Postponed...

For those not on fb. A message from Coach Storm.

Attention group: I know alot of you wanna know whats going on with our season. We don't have the answers. This pandemic and the sport of wrestling is making it tough to get on the mat. For obvious reasons. We put our heads together and got the ball rolling as it was a normal season, because we didn't want to be behind on the ball. We got ahead as we do any other season. Then there were concerns of where to practice, so we went outside our normal wrestling facility and secured a place. We then got told we have our wrestling room back and its a go. As of yesterday afternoon we once again lost our space and the space we had secured is being occupied. As per the new regulations set by the government we can only have 11 kids in the wrestling room. 11! I have 70 kids signed up to wrestle. But not only that we need to step back and think of our Jr High and High School wrestling teams. Who have been in this very program longer than any of our wrestlers. They are trying to get a season in as well under these regulations. Think about our senior class, some who may be trying to set a record, school, personal or ones who wanna just finish there career strong. We are in a difficult situation.
I did some investigating this morning with other schools in our league/county. Some of which who did away with the program and some that are in the same boat we are. Same exact boat. Some have started and got stopped on the first week and told wait till January to let this play out. I have tried thinking of other possibilities, losing sleep and banging my head off the wall to get this to work. Others from school administrators to our program admins as well. As of now we are set back till January to see whats going to happen.  Unless someone has en empty pole barn with some heat that they are hiding 🤔...the season is postponed. Season Update

We finally have an update and start of season info for you!! There is a lot of info here....PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE EMAIL!! Registration will be closing on Nov. 20th. If you haven't already please get your wrestler registered so we can finalize rosters. The season will officially start Dec. 2nd for Gold Team & Dec. 3rd for Green Team. Both team practice times will be 6:30-8pm. Unless you have heard from either Coach Storm or Coach Drace personally your wrestler is on the team you registered them for. Gold Team (grades 4th-6th) Green Team (1st-3rd) Registration fee $35 due the first night of practice. Checks made payable to Donegal Wrestling Booster Club & Cash. On the first night of practice while the kids are getting temp checked, parents please hang out outside by the DIG and Coach Storm or Coach Drace will come out for a quick meeting. Absolutely no parents will be allowed in the DIG at any time. Parents are expected to walk their wrestlers to the door and wait for their temperature check at EVERY PRACTICE. If there is a temp issue a parent needs to be present because they will not be allowed to wait in the DIG. Expect a line, dress warm, bring an umbrella. Pick up you will need to also pick up at the door, coaches will not just send them out the door without a parent present. Please be on time for drop off and pick up so practice can start on time and so Coaches aren't waiting around for kids to be picked up. There will be no access to the locker rooms but there will be a Port-a-John outside for the wrestlers to use. Encourage them to use the bathroom at home before coming to practice. Socks should be worn over wrestling shoes to walk in to the DIG so they are ready to go for practice. The kids are used to running around, and hanging out before practice starts but under the current circumstances that will no longer be permitted. In the past they have also been allowed to attend other practices, that also will not be permitted. They must attend only their teams practices. Any cough, runny nose, temperature, sore throat, anything....DO NOT COME TO PRACTICE!! Please bare with us as we get the season started...there will inevitably be changes along the way so we are asking you to be patient and flexible with us as we navigate through the season. Kindergarten will hear from us towards the end of December for practice dates/times. Thank you all for being patient with us as we put together this years season. We know it won't be like our past seasons but we are excited and fully prepared to do what we need to to ensure our kiddos have a positive experience. Just a few things!

Good Morning Wrestling Family!!! We are still waiting on info about guidelines for the season. Once we have that Coach Storm and Coach Drace will determine the start date for the season. We all know these are crazy times and things are always changning. So with that said please show patience as the Coaches work incredibly hard to get this season rolling for our kiddos. I encourage all of to us to not assume anything and wait for the information to come straight from the Coaches. Doing this will save time and keep the organization from having to squash any false information.

A huge "Thank You" to those of you that took the time to fundraise. This money helps pay for tournaments, FVL meets, and so much else for our kiddos. As a non -profit organization everything is funded by fundraising so it's always very important that each of us do what we can to help out.

One last thing...This registration process is very new and I"m still working through some kinks. In the beginning I missed a few important details on the registration, shirt size being one. If I don't have a shirt size for your wrestler I will reach out at some point to get that so we can be sure to get them the correct size tshirt. If everyone could take a minute to make sure all info for their wrestler is correct, mainly...name, birth date, phone number & email that would be super helpful as we work on rosters. There are somethings I have access to to change but Name is not one of them so that is really important that its correct. If you need help fixing anything please reach out and I can explain how to do it.
