How does Roller Derby work?

The safety of your child is our number one priority.  We also want you to get the best gear for your money.  Your junior only gets one body, derby can be a very physical sport and therefore getting the correct gear early on can increase the time your young athlete can play this sport.

HELMETS
The S1 Lifer Helmet is constructed with Fusion Foam and is 5x more protective than soft foam skate helmets. The S1 Lifer Helmet is certified to help protect your head from low force multiple impacts (ASTM Standard) and single high impacts (CPSC Certified). We batch test every production to make sure the S1 Lifer Helmet meets and/or exceeds current helmet safety standards.

MOUTHGUARD
These mouth guards are easy to breath, talk and drink with in your mouth.  They are designed for high impact sports and are remoldable if your childs mouth changes.

SKATES
There are liternally hundreds of starter packages out there but for something that will get your child started and allow for growth we suggest the following sets
Bont Pro Star package - Boot, Plate, Wheels, Bearings and Toestop -  around $180

KNEE PADS
We suggest the 187 Fly Knee Pads around $37 or Smith Scabs $35 or 187 Pro around $80
Please do not skimp on your childs knee protection.  Knee injuries are one of the most common in contact sports.

WRIST GUARDS
We suggest the 187 Wrist Guards for around $20.  They have more complete coverage and front and back wrist support.

ELBOW PADS
we suggest the 187 elbow pad as the child slides their arm into the pad and its less likely to slide down during play.  It covers the entire elbow area and keeps their arm/elbow safe for around $35.
